Finishing Well

2 Timothy 4:7 / Acts 20:24 4 min

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 4:7 / Acts 20:24

Paul wrote 2 Timothy 4:7 near the end of his life, facing execution. His three-part summary didn't include: built a big organization, made a comfortable life. He said: fought well, finished, kept the faith.

Finishing well in business means knowing when to exit with integrity — whether that's a sale, a succession, a wind-down, or a handoff. Not holding on past your season.

Acts 20:24 reframes the value of life entirely: what matters is completing the specific task Jesus gave. Not someone else's task. Not the version that earns the most applause.

You will have a last chapter in this business. Don't let the pressure of growth make you forget to finish with character.

This week

Think about what a finish well scenario looks like for your business — even if it's years away. Who would you hand it to? What would you need in place? Write down the first step.
